Rosso di Montepulciano DOC 2024 by Poderi Sanguineto I e II comes from vineyards located in the Sanguineto area near Acquaviva, within the historic territory of Montepulciano in southern Tuscany.

The wine is based on Sangiovese, locally known as Prugnolo Gentile, with small amounts of Canaiolo Nero and Mammolo. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts followed by aging for about one year in large oak casks, preserving the traditional style and natural character of the wine.

The result is a vibrant and approachable expression of Rosso di Montepulciano — fresh and balanced, with aromas of cherry, plum and subtle spice supported by soft tannins and lively acidity.

Harvest:

Manual harvest from vineyards located in the Sanguineto area near Acquaviva in the municipality of Montepulciano. The vines grow on medium-textured soils of Pliocene origin with excellent sun exposure and favorable continental climate conditions.

Vinification:

Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts with about 8–10 days of maceration on the skins. The wine is vinified in cement and stainless steel tanks and aged for about one year in large oak casks before bottling.

Tasting Notes:

Bright ruby red. The nose shows aromas of cherry, plum and red berries with subtle floral and spicy notes. On the palate the wine is fresh and balanced with light tannins and a pleasant savory finish that makes it particularly versatile at the table.

Acquaviva, Montepulciano – Tuscany

Poderi Sanguineto I e II is a historic family estate located in Acquaviva near Montepulciano in southern Tuscany. The winery was founded in 1958 by Federico Forsoni, who purchased land in the Sanguineto area and established a traditional mixed farm with vineyards, cereals and livestock.

After his death in 1983, the estate passed to his daughter Dora Forsoni, who gradually transformed the farm into a wine-focused estate dedicated to the production of traditional wines from Montepulciano.

Today the estate covers about 50 hectares, with around 6 hectares of vineyards planted mainly with local varieties such as Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese), Mammolo and Canaiolo. Vineyard work follows a low-intervention philosophy without synthetic chemicals, and fermentation occurs naturally with indigenous yeasts.

The wines of Sanguineto reflect a deep respect for tradition and for the terroir of Montepulciano, producing authentic expressions of one of Tuscany’s historic wine regions.
