Merlot (Grape)
Merlot is one of the world’s most widely planted red grape varieties and has a long-established presence in Italy, particularly in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto and Tuscany. It is often used in blends, where it adds softness, fruit and roundness, though varietal examples also exist. It typically shows plum, black cherry, herbs and spice, with supple tannins and a generous, approachable character.
