Brunello di Montalcino 2021 by La Palazzetta is a classic and age-worthy organic Sangiovese from Castelnuovo dell’Abate, in the south-eastern part of Montalcino. Grown on calcareous, stony soils at 365 metres above sea level, it combines the power of this warm area with freshness, structure and elegance. Vinified with indigenous yeasts and aged in large oak casks, it offers cherry, dried rose, red flowers, spice and earthy nuances, with firm tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, refined finish.

Harvest:

Grapes are carefully selected and harvested from 100% Sangiovese vineyards in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, at 365 metres above sea level, on calcareous soils rich in stones. The estate’s Brunello vineyards are around 35–40 years old. The producer confirms careful selection and harvesting, but I did not find a precise harvest month for the 2021 vintage.

Vinification:

After careful grape selection, Brunello di Montalcino 2021 by La Palazzetta is fermented at controlled temperature with indigenous yeasts, followed by around 20 days of maceration and natural malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged traditionally for three years in large oak casks of 3,000 and 5,000 litres. Built for long ageing, this Brunello can continue to evolve beautifully in the cellar for many years.

Tasting Notes:

Elegant and structured, with notes of cherry, sour cherry, dried rose, red flowers, spice, herbs and earthy nuances, supported by firm tannins, lively acidity and a long, clean finish.
