Grappoli del Grillo Sicilia DOC 2023 by Marco De Bartoli is made from Grillo grown in Contrada Samperi near Marsala in western Sicily, one of the historic territories of this traditional Sicilian grape.

The vineyards grow on sandy coastal soils influenced by the Mediterranean climate. Fermentation begins in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and finishes in French oak barrels. The wine then ages for about twelve months on the lees in oak followed by additional bottle refinement.

The result is a structured and expressive Grillo — rich yet elegant, with aromas of citrus, wildflowers and tropical fruit supported by freshness and a slightly bitter almond finish typical of the grape.

Manual harvest of Grillo grapes from vineyards located in Contrada Samperi near Marsala in western Sicily. The vines grow on sandy soils influenced by the Mediterranean climate, contributing structure, richness and aromatic complexity.

Vinification:

Soft pressing followed by natural cold settling for about 48 hours. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts begins in stainless steel tanks and finishes in French oak barrels. The wine ages for about 12 months in oak on the lees followed by about 6 months of bottle refinement.

Tasting Notes:

Deep straw yellow with green reflections. The nose reveals aromas of wildflowers, citrus and exotic fruit. On the palate the wine is structured and elegant with vibrant freshness and a slightly bitter almond finish typical of Grillo.
