Barolo DOCG 2022 by Cristina Prandi is a pure Nebbiolo grown in the historic vineyards of Paiagallo in Barolo and Bricco Cogni in La Morra, two classic sites in the Langhe known for producing structured and age-worthy Barolo.

The wine reflects the calcareous Lequio–Serravallian soils typical of the Barolo hills. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts followed by extended maceration and aging for about 24 months in large oak casks, a traditional approach that preserves the character and depth of Nebbiolo.

The result is a precise and elegant expression of Barolo DOCG — structured and complex, with notes of rose, red fruit, spice and finely layered tannins supported by vibrant acidity.

Vinification:

Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts followed by extended maceration on the skins. The wine ages for about 24 months in large oak casks and continues to refine in bottle before release, preserving the traditional style of Barolo.

Tasting Notes:

Bright garnet red. The nose opens with aromas of rose, ripe cherry and wild berries, followed by notes of licorice, tobacco and delicate spice. On the palate the wine is structured and precise with vibrant acidity and refined tannins. The finish is long, savory and mineral, a classic expression of Nebbiolo from the Langhe.

Cristina Prandi represents the newest generation of a historic Barolo family whose roots date back to 1864, when her ancestor Teobaldo founded the original winery in the village of Barolo.

After decades in which the family maintained vineyards but stopped bottling wine, Cristina revived the name in 2019, beginning her own project focused on Nebbiolo and the traditions of the Langhe.

She farms vineyards in Paiagallo (Barolo) and Bricco Cogni in La Morra, working with spontaneous fermentations and minimal intervention to allow Nebbiolo and terroir to speak clearly.

Cristina’s project marks a new chapter for the Prandi family — rooted in history but driven by a new generation.
