Gigli Metodo Classico Brut is a rare sparkling wine produced in microscopic quantities in Oneta, a small hamlet of Borgo a Mozzano, hidden among the forests of Tuscany.

Made from 100% Barsaglina, a forgotten native Tuscan grape, this is a bold and almost utopian project: sparkling wine from a half-hectare vineyard in a region not traditionally associated with Metodo Classico.

Although labelled Brut, the dosage is extremely restrained (around 5 g/l), placing it stylistically very close to Extra Brut. The result is a dry, precise and vertical expression, where purity and tension take precedence over softness.

Sincere, direct and territorial, Gigli expresses artisan scale production, spontaneous fermentations and long ageing on the lees. It is not built for mass appeal. It is built for identity.

Harvest:

First harvest at the end of August with manual selection, whole cluster pressing to preserve freshness and acidity, grapes sourced from a half-hectare vineyard in Borgo a Mozzano.

Vinification:

Direct pressing of whole clusters, spontaneous alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, bottled in April, aged at least 24 months on the lees, disgorged à la glace, dosage 5 g/l (Extra Brut).

Tasting Notes:

Pale rosé-yellow with light copper reflections and fine penetrating perlage, aromas of citrus peel and pomegranate, crisp and vibrant palate with lively acidity, subtle red fruit nuances and a clean, persistent finish.

Cantina Gigli is a tiny estate located in Oneta, a small hamlet of Borgo a Mozzano in Tuscany. Surrounded by forests and far from industrial wine zones, the winery works just over half a hectare of vineyard. Together with Angelo Bertacchini, agronomy-trained and active across Tuscany, the project focuses on Barsaglina, a nearly forgotten native grape variety.

Gigli represents the revival of a local identity through Metodo Classico production. Small scale, spontaneous fermentations and long ageing define wines that are direct, sincere and deeply territorial.
