Tenuta di Valgiano - Tuscany

 

This Toscana IGT from Tenuta di Valgiano is a fresh and approachable wine, perfect for enjoying with friends during an aperitif. Primarily made from Vermentino and Trebbiano grapes, the white winemaking process involves pressing and a brief maceration (2/3 days) on the skins. It is aged for 90% in stainless steel tanks and the remaining portion in wood. Afterward, it undergoes an additional 6 months of bottle aging. It pairs excellently with seafood-based appetizers, tuna or swordfish tartare, or even with cow's milk cheeses.

HARVEST:

The grapes are hand-picked in small boxes and carefully sorted on a first selection belt. After destemming, they undergo another round of sorting on a second belt before being delivered into wooden vats for fermentation.

VINIFICATION:

The grapes are manually plunged by foot, ensuring gentle and thorough maceration for 10 to 15 days to extract the aromas and quality tannins. After racking, the wine briefly settles before gravity guides it into lightly toasted French barriques (5% new) for malolactic fermentation. Following 12 months of aging, the wine is transferred to cement vats for an additional 6 months before bottling.

TASTING NOTES:

The wine has a pale straw yellow color with greenish reflections. On the nose, it presents elegant and delicate aromas of white flowers and fruits, with subtle green notes in the background. The palate is light and very fresh, with a youthful and lively character.
