The aging process includes 48 months in Slavonian oak barrels of 17.50 hl, with a small portion in Barrique, followed by 12 months of bottle refinement, exceeding the mandatory minimum of 6 months.
The vineyards are located on the hills of Montalcino at various altitudes, with sun exposure until sunset. The average altitude is 250 meters, featuring a mix of old and very old vines.
Production involves double thinning of grape clusters. During the late September harvest, three clusters out of five are selected in good years. Grapes are further selected in the cellar and processed according to ancient traditions, with intense extraction early in fermentation, followed by a long maceration period with the skins. The temperature is raised to 33°C and maintained at high levels until racking.
TASTING NOTES:
This wine displays a ruby red color with warm garnet hues. The bouquet is extremely rich, featuring a potpourri of macerated flowers and light spices that lead into a superb aromatic opening of woody notes, rose, and cherry. On the palate, it has a powerful mineral entry, an impressively colossal mouthfeel, with a balanced tannic structure that remains fresh and persistent.
